Juvenile Crime Control
Office on Youth staff provides services to juveniles referred by the Virginia 25th District Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court judges and the Virginia 25th District Court Services Unit staff. Programs seek to deter juvenile crime and provide alternatives to detention. The Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice provides funding for these services through the Virginia Juvenile Community Crime Control Act.
The purpose of the Virginia Juvenile Community Crime Control Act is “to deter crime by providing immediate, effective punishment that emphasizes accountability of the juvenile offender for his actions as well as reduces the pattern of repeat offending” (Code of Virginia, §16.1-309.2).
