The Greater Augusta Prevention Partners Youth Council is a group of local middle and high school students who have a passion for their community and want to see other youth grow up strong and healthy.  The Youth Council focuses on working to reduce youth drug use, suicide and other issues impacting youth.  The Youth Council brings the youth voice to many community prevention efforts.  The Youth Council is student led and the participants decide on what issues to work on and how to go about tackling the problem.

Projects and activities include:

  • attending the Youth Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention Project (YADAPP) week long conference at Longwood College each July
  • creating educational video content and giving presentations in the community,
  • talking with local legislators during Rally Day in Richmond in January,
  • distributing 4/20 info,
  • making presentations to local City Councils and Board of Supervisors to promote changes regarding e-cigarettes in schools and other issues,
  • and other fun activities.

All middle and high school students in Augusta County, Waynesboro, and Staunton are welcome to attend a monthly meeting. For more information on how to join contact our office!
