Youth Employment

The Office on Youth fills the role of a “youth employment agency” in helping to prepare youth for the workforce by providing employment readiness training, on-site work experience, and assistance in securing employment opportunities.

As a participant in Office on Youth's employment programs, young adults between the ages of 14 and 24 have the opportunity to learn about different occupations, develop positive work habits and earn money! But most of all, you will gain valuable work experience to help you build your resume and prepare you for future careers. The Office on Youth is considered your employer and pays you for your work. You will be assigned to an Office on Youth staff who will work closely with you to match you to an appropriate worksite.

The Office on Youth offers opportunities with many different jobs and organizations, including government agencies, hospitals, summer camps, nonprofits, small businesses, museums, retail organizations, social service agencies, community organizations, cultural institutions, and many more. Office on Youth staff will take your interests and abilities into consideration when assigning you to a job. However, don't expect a perfect fit, and keep in mind that every job is useful in helping you determine both your likes and dislikes. Your willingness to do the job assigned and to accept supervision is also an important part of the real work world.
