The Office on Youth coordinates community-wide substance abuse prevention efforts through the United States Drug Free Communities Grant. We spearhead public campaigns, conduct educational presentations to the community, and support the substance abuse prevention initiatives of area middle and high schools. The community is involved with these efforts through the SAW Coalition.
The coalition works to support and sustain a community effort to provide youth with relationships and resources that will assist them in making better decisions for their lives. The SAW Coalition meets the second Friday of every month at Augusta Health.
How it Works
The program coordinator assists with after prom and homecoming activities, SADD club activities, youth leadership development, educational presentations, and guest speaker opportunities.
Who Should Participate
School personnel, SADD club sponsors, prom and homecoming chairpersons, guidance counselors, law enforcement and probation officers, clergy members, mental health professionals, representatives from other youth-serving organizations, and interested citizens from Staunton, Waynesboro, or Augusta County.
School personnel should contact us to learn about financial and programmatic partnerships available for substance abuse prevention.

Funding for the Office on Youth’s substance abuse prevention programming is made possible by the Drug Free Communities Support Program, Grant #1H79SO014763-01 from the United States Department of Health and Human Services, and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration
